Legendary hard rock band AC/DC is rumored to announce a North American spring/summer 2025 tour later this week. Speculation intensified after a Facebook event for an April 11, 2025 concert at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota briefly appeared before being taken down. Reports suggest tickets for the show were set to go on sale this Friday, November 15, sparking excitement among fans.

This upcoming tour would follow AC/DC’s triumphant return to live performances, which included the “Power Up” European tour that concluded on August 17, 2024, at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland. That tour marked the debut of the band’s new touring lineup: Brian Johnson on vocals, Angus and Stevie Young on guitars, Matt Laug on drums, and Chris Chaney on bass. The lineup first performed together at the Power Trip festival in Indio, California in 2023, signaling a new chapter for the band.

AC/DC’s last major tour was the “Rock Or Bust” trek in 2015-2016, which grossed $180 million and sold over 2.3 million tickets, cementing their status as one of rock’s most enduring acts.

New Faces in AC/DC

Matt Laug, an American drummer with a storied career, joined the band for their Power Trip performance and subsequent European tour. Laug, known for his work with Alanis Morissette, Alice Cooper, and SLASH’S SNAKEPIT, previously supported AC/DC during the 2001 “Stiff Upper Lip” tour. His addition comes after long-time drummer Phil Rudd’s absence from live performances. While Rudd returned for the recording of Power Up in 2020, he has not joined the band on the road, with no official explanation provided.

Bassist Chris Chaney, another new addition, brings a wealth of experience from his work with Jane’s Addiction, Alanis Morissette, and countless other artists. A versatile session musician, Chaney has collaborated with everyone from Joe Cocker to Shakira and Celine Dion. His dynamic presence has added a fresh dimension to AC/DC’s legendary sound.

Brian Johnson’s Return

Vocalist Brian Johnson, now 77, has overcome significant health challenges to return to the stage. Johnson was sidelined in 2016 during the “Rock Or Bust” tour after being warned of potential total hearing loss. The band completed that tour with Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose stepping in as a guest vocalist. Since then, Johnson has worked with audio expert Stephen Ambrose, who developed specialized in-ear monitors to protect Johnson’s hearing, enabling him to perform live again.

A Legacy of Resilience

AC/DC has faced numerous challenges over the years, from the tragic loss of Bon Scott to Johnson’s health issues and lineup changes. Despite these obstacles, the band continues to deliver electrifying performances and maintain their status as rock icons. With rumors of the 2025 tour announcement, fans are eagerly awaiting what’s next for the legendary group.

Stay tuned for the official announcement expected later this week.
