Alex Lifeson, the renowned guitarist of Rush, recently expressed his feelings about touring in an interview on SiriusXM’s ‘Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk’.
Alex Lifeson, who has spent four decades touring alongside Geddy Lee, shared that he no longer harbors any desire to tour, either with Lee or in any other capacity.
He reflected on the demanding nature of touring, highlighting the challenges of being away from family and the tedium of waiting for a few hours on stage. Despite enjoying live performances, Lifeson emphasized his contentment with his current life and reluctance to disrupt it for touring.
Rush, which ceased touring in 2015 and became inactive following the death of drummer Neil Peart in 2020, has not reunited for a tour since.
Rumors about a possible Rush comeback have been circulating, especially after Lifeson and Lee’s participation in the Taylor Hawkins tribute show. Addressing these rumors, Lifeson acknowledged the fans’ wishes but remained non-committal, citing his enjoyment of his current lifestyle.
Lifeson also commented on Lee’s pursuits, noting that Lee has embraced his role as an author and is enjoying it. The guitarist expressed that while there are no concrete plans for a tour or new shows, he and Lee remain open to collaboration if the opportunity arises. Living just five minutes apart, Lifeson suggested the ease with which they could potentially work together again, but for now, there are no plans in the works.
