Alex Skolnick Blames Elon Musk For Wrecking U.S. Flight Safety

Testament guitarist Alex Skolnick didn’t hold back on X, taking sharp aim at conservatives for their reactions to the recent tragic plane crash near Washington, D.C. Skolnick specifically criticized Elon Musk’s influence on aviation safety, suggesting it played a role in the current instability in air travel.

“So, let me get this straight,” Skolnick began in a scathing post. “Sixteen years without a major plane crash. Trump gets elected, Elon helps push out the FAA head, threatens to dismantle air traffic control and other key positions. Now planes are going down—and somehow, it’s Biden’s, Obama’s, or DEI’s fault? You f*cking idiots.”

His post quickly went viral, igniting debate across social media:

“So, let me get this straight. 16 years without a major plane crash. Trump takes office, Elon forces out head of the FAA, threatens to gut air traffic control and other government positions. Now planes are crashing. And they’re blaming BIDEN? OBAMA? DEI?? YOU F—CKING IDIOTS”

The outrage follows a devastating collision between an American Airlines plane and an Army Black Hawk helicopter near D.C., as reported by CBS News. All 67 people on board the plane, including 60 passengers and four crew members, perished, alongside three soldiers in the helicopter. Officials have recovered 41 victims’ remains, and both aircraft’s black boxes have been secured for investigation. Among the casualties were prominent U.S. and Russian figure skaters. The helicopter had been on a training mission from Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

Despite the investigation being in its early stages, former President Donald Trump was quick to suggest DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives might be to blame. In a press conference covered by NBC News, Trump claimed, “We need our smartest people handling these jobs. It doesn’t matter what they look like or who they are—we need geniuses. Regular people can’t do this work. We’ll restore faith in American air travel.”

When pressed on how he could attribute the crash to DEI without concrete evidence, Trump simply responded, “Because I have common sense.”

Trump also criticized the FAA’s DEI efforts under Presidents Biden and Obama, particularly targeting initiatives aimed at increasing representation of people with disabilities in air traffic control roles—despite the fact that such recruitment practices existed during his own administration.

Currently, there’s no evidence linking DEI programs to the crash. The cause remains under thorough investigation.
