Andy Biersack revealed on X that he’s remaking The Grinch, but Taylor Momsen won’t be part of it.
“Thank goodness someone is finally going to release the VHS of the shot-for-shot Grinch remake I made when I was 9 and made my family watch for my birthday,” the singer commented under The Funeral Portrait’s post, announcing a release date of 12/26/24. “It’s either that or new music. Either way, I’m excited.”
In a follow-up, Biersack posted two photos to prove he wasn’t joking. “Just to be clear, this is real, not some silly thing I said. Though I do say a lot of nonsense, this one was legit, and it was absolutely amazing. Merry Christmas!”
In response, The Funeral Portrait jokingly wrote, “Sorry, Andy. It’s actually OUR shot-for-shot remake of Cat in the Hat from 2022 that we filmed in our practice space.”
Though Momsen famously portrayed Cindy Lou Who in How the Grinch Stole Christmas at age 7, she’s not involved in Biersack’s remake. Last year, in an Instagram story, Momsen discussed her experience playing Cindy Lou, revealing how it affected her childhood. During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Podcrushed, she said, “The Grinch changed my life in so many ways – one of them being that I was constantly made fun of. Whenever I’d start a new school, the kids didn’t even know my name.”
“They just called me ‘Grinch girl.’ Not even Cindy Lou Who, just ‘Grinch girl.’ It was isolating… and making friends was always tough,” Momsen shared.
She also recalled how her life took another turn when Gossip Girl came along, uprooting her to New York. “The band fell apart. We were on the verge of being huge. It was a real bummer,” she said. “But I quickly found my feet again in New York.”
After Gossip Girl ended in 2012, Momsen focused fully on her music career. She’s been the lead vocalist of The Pretty Reckless since 2009, with their most recent album, Death By Rock And Roll, released in 2021.
