Well, that escalated quickly. The reported altercation between Alien Ant Farm‘s vocalist Dryden Mitchell and CKY‘s vocalist Chad I Ginsburg has led to CKY being removed from their co-headlining UK tour. According to Mitchell’s detailed (and admittedly, biting) post, Ginsburg’s behavior—culminating in him punching Mitchell in the face—was the breaking point after ongoing issues with crew members and bands on tour.
Mitchell claims he tried to address the tension diplomatically, but Ginsburg’s response allegedly involved flipping tables, throwing objects, and, finally, physical aggression. Alien Ant Farm is continuing the tour without CKY, offering refunds to CKY fans who may be upset by the shakeup.
In a brief response, Ginsburg defended his actions, stating:
“I had NO choice and GOOD reason for what happened. I will always defend myself.”
The rest of the tour will go on as follows:
Alien Ant Farm’s Remaining UK Dates (Without CKY):
- Nov 17: Nottingham, UK – Rock City
- Nov 18: Newcastle, UK – NX
- Nov 20: Scotland, UK – SWG3
- Nov 21: Manchester, UK – O2 Ritz
- Nov 22: Bradford, UK – Nightrain
- Nov 23: Swansea, UK – Patti Pavilion
- Nov 24: London, UK – O2 Forum Kentish Town
The incident is certainly dramatic, but fans of Alien Ant Farm can still look forward to the band delivering their usual energetic shows. CKY fans, however, might be left with questions as the full story unfolds. It remains to be seen whether Ginsburg will elaborate further on his perspective.
In any case, let’s hope this messy situation inspires both parties to take a step back, regroup, and focus on the music that brought their fans together in the first place.
