Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood recently shared exciting news about the band during a video call at the Hay Festival Querétaro on September 8. He revealed that the band had reconvened for rehearsals two months prior in London, stating, “We did some rehearsals… just played the old songs, and it was really fun. I had a really good time.” This update comes on the heels of recent reunion announcements from other iconic bands, sparking hope among fans.
Colin’s comments follow earlier statements from his brother Jonny Greenwood, who noted in May that while the band members were occupied with individual projects, they were still in regular communication. “We’re still talking all the time, we just need to make a plan and get some time together sorted out,” Jonny mentioned, humorously admitting he often got sidetracked in the studio.
In November, drummer Philip Selway hinted at a potential reunion, while guitarist Ed O’Brien focused on his upcoming solo album. This combination of activity has kept fans optimistic about the band’s future.
In the meantime, Colin Greenwood is set to join Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds on their UK and European tour for their latest album, Wild God. Additionally, Radiohead’s side project, The Smile—featuring Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, and Sons Of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner—has announced their new album, Cutouts, slated for release on October 4. The project recently unveiled two singles, “Foreign Spies” and “Zero Sum.”
Radiohead last released a studio album, A Moon Shaped Pool, in 2016, with their most recent tour taking place in 2018. Fans are eagerly awaiting what comes next for the band, hoping for new music and performances in the near future.
