Alicia Taylor’s Slipknot Memory and Controversial Claims Against the Band

Before marrying Slipknot lead singer Corey Taylor, Alicia Taylor was among those whose parents disapproved of the band’s music. Recently, Alicia shared a nostalgic post on X, revealing a Slipknot CD she received during her teenage years, which her mother had hidden from her. Alicia reflected on the experience with a touch of humor:

“My mom found this in a box of my old stuff. I thought she threw it away, but I guess she just hid it from me. Good times.”

When asked if her mother had labeled the music as “the devil’s music,” Alicia confirmed with a simple, “Oh yes.”

Slipknot’s Controversies and Misunderstandings

Slipknot has faced controversial claims over the years, including accusations of promoting Satanism. These allegations reached a peak following a tragic incident at Nic Diederichs Technical High School, where a student dressed like late drummer Joey Jordison attacked others. Reports suggested the attacker claimed “Satan told him to kill the children,” sparking backlash against the band.

Senior Superintendent Gerard Labuschagne and the South African police’s investigative psychology unit later clarified that such claims linking Slipknot’s music to the attack were unfounded. Despite this, community leader Pierre Eksteen suggested that “Satanic” music might have influenced the attacker, pointing to Slipknot’s imagery and music as a possible negative influence.

These controversies highlight the ongoing debate over the influence of music on behavior, particularly when it involves genres and bands with provocative imagery and themes.
