Lacuna Coil’s Cristina Scabbia recently shared insights about the band’s evolving lineup, focusing on guitarist Daniele Salomone, who has been filling in after Diego Cavallotti’s departure. Speaking on Full Metal Jackie, Scabbia clarified that while Salomone has been an integral part of the band’s recent performances, he has yet to become an official member.
Salomone’s Role
Scabbia highlighted that Salomone has been connected with Lacuna Coil for several years, assisting with equipment and recordings. When Cavallotti stepped away, the band naturally turned to Salomone. “We’ve known Daniele for a few years now… He actually helped us during other recordings as well… He’s a person that we know personally so we know that we can get along well. We know that he’s an incredible, great guitar player,” she explained.
His expertise with studio equipment and music production was another factor in their decision. “He knows everything about the equipment because he has a studio himself. He produces other bands as well. So he knows how to handle things,” Scabbia noted.
Not an Official Member
Despite Salomone’s involvement, Scabbia was clear that his position is not permanent. “He’s not like the new guitar player of Lacuna Coil. Because we always need some time… You just have to tour with Lacuna Coil to see if that’s your thing. You don’t know if it’s something that you can actually take because the lifestyle of a musician is not easy,” she said.
Cavallotti’s Departure
Guitarist Diego Cavallotti left Lacuna Coil in 2024 after a decade with the band. In his statement, Cavallotti emphasized that his departure was amicable and based on personal priorities rather than issues with the group. “This decision is not the result of my dissatisfaction or desire to explore new opportunities… I have serenely decided to accept it in consideration of these almost 10 wonderful years spent together.”
Salomone’s Live Debut
Salomone debuted with Lacuna Coil during their August 4 performance at Rockstadt Extreme Fest in Romania. His contributions have since made him a key part of their current tour, even as the band takes its time to determine his long-term role.
As Lacuna Coil continues their journey, fans will eagerly watch to see if Salomone transitions from a trusted collaborator to a permanent band member.
