During his recent appearance on Drinks With Johnny, MEGADETH’s Dave Mustaine spoke about the band’s ongoing “Destroy All Enemies” U.S. tour alongside MUDVAYNE and ALL THAT REMAINS. Mustaine mentioned how he initially got to know MUDVAYNE’s Chad Gray during his time with HELLYEAH but hasn’t had much of a chance to reconnect with him on this tour. Despite this, Mustaine praised the other bands, noting their professionalism and respect while also expressing his hope for more interaction with them.
Reflecting on the tour dynamics, Mustaine emphasized the importance of communication in handling the inevitable challenges that come up on the road, stating that many problems stem from fear—whether it’s fear of not getting what one wants or fear of losing what one already has.
The “Destroy All Enemies” tour, which began in August 2024, will run until September 28, hitting major cities like Las Vegas, Boston, and St. Louis. Finnish guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari, who stepped in for Kiko Loureiro in 2023, continues to tour with MEGADETH. Loureiro has stayed in Finland to be with his children, with no plans for a return.
Since its formation in 1983, MEGADETH has evolved from its thrash roots into one of heavy metal’s defining bands. Albums like Rust In Peace and Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying? helped solidify their legacy, while their 2016 Grammy win for Dystopia was a milestone in their long career. Their latest album, The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! (2022), continues to showcase the band’s influence and lasting impact on metal music.
