Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider has revealed that he is a fan of Nickelback. The rocker took to X to share his thoughts on the band’s 2023 Netflix documentary, *Hate To Love.* He wrote:
“I watched the Nickelback documentary on Netflix last night. It was excellent! I was never really a Nickelback fan before (not a hater or anything), but I am now. Great work Chad, Mike, Ryan, and Daniel! Hard fought, well deserved!”
Fans agreed with him, with some even saying they didn’t like the band before watching the documentary:
“I really enjoyed it as well and I’d never been a fan either. It’s a great ROCK ‘N ROLL documentary. True perseverance and honesty!”
How The Documentary Addressed Their Controversial Image
The new documentary reveals that Nickelback has been deeply affected by being labeled the most disliked rock band. Produced by Ben Jones, it explores their ups and downs despite their huge record sales.
Jones blames their bad reputation on social media critics and mentions that he was the first UK DJ to play their music on Virgin Radio. He stayed in touch with the band, and they asked him to make a video for an album in 2018, which eventually led to the creation of this documentary addressing their controversial image.
Jones said of the documentary:
“What happened with Nickelback was that their success became ubiquitous at a point in history where we all had these devices in our hands which allowed us to be keyboard warriors and write things on the internet with utter anonymity.”
He added:
“We talk about them as the Marmite of rock – some people like it, some people hate it – if you don’t like it, don’t listen.”
