Def Leppard recently opened up about a health scare during a behind-the-scenes YouTube video for their ‘Summer Stadium Tour.’ Frontman Joe Elliott expressed concern, stating, “There’s a fungus among us. There’s a sickness in the camp, and everybody’s worried.” He noted the unusual situation of the band having five separate dressing rooms, a first in their history, which he found disheartening.
Rick Savage echoed Elliott’s sentiment, adding, “We’re all feeling a little under the weather.” Elliott explained that crucial days off before the gig helped them recover enough to perform.
While the band members have faced individual health issues in the past, they had never experienced a collective scare like this before. Last year, Elliott battled moderate-to-severe altitude sickness, raising concerns among fans.
The singer previously faced significant vocal challenges, including a frozen vocal cord, which nearly led to his retirement around 2015. Thanks to extensive vocal rehab, he regained his ability to sing without surgery, allowing him to continue performing with the band.
