During a June 12 appearance on SiriusXM’s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk,” Duff McKagan discussed the future of GUNS N’ ROSES and the possibility of releasing new music. When asked if the band would continue to release previously composed songs or focus on newly written material, the GN’R bassist responded, “Absolutely. There’s new material. How we put it out is still up for discussion. Do we release an album or just keep putting out singles? I’m not sure what the best approach is in today’s music landscape.”
GUNS N’ ROSES hasn’t released a full-length album since 2008’s “Chinese Democracy,” which only featured singer Axl Rose from the band’s classic lineup. McKagan and guitarist Slash rejoined Axl in 2016, and since then, the band has released several standalone singles such as “Absurd” (stylized as “ABSUЯD”), “Hard Skool,” “Perhaps,” and “The General.” However, they have yet to announce plans for a new album.
In a recent interview with the Daily Star, Slash was asked about his new project, “Orgy Of The Damned,” a blues album featuring various guest vocalists. When questioned why neither Axl Rose nor Myles Kennedy, Slash’s collaborator in THE CONSPIRATORS, were involved, the 58-year-old guitarist explained, “It was my own side thing, so I wasn’t dragging my own guys in.”
