Former My Chemical Romance drummer Bob Bryar was tragically found deceased at his Tennessee home on Tuesday, November 26. His last known sighting was on November 4. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of death, but NME reports there are no signs of foul play, as Bryar’s belongings, including musical equipment and personal items, were undisturbed.

Bryar, who played with My Chemical Romance from 2004 to 2010, was the band’s longest-serving drummer. He joined the group during a pivotal time, stepping in after Matt Pelissier’s departure. Initially meeting the band while working as a sound engineer on their 2004 tour, Bryar officially became a member in time for their performances in Japan that year.

Although he joined after the release of Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, Bryar was heavily involved in the album’s promotion and music videos. He made significant contributions to the band’s 2006 landmark album, The Black Parade, which solidified their status as rock icons in both the U.S. and the U.K. Bryar left My Chemical Romance in 2010, shortly before the release of Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, and later transitioned to a career in real estate.

In his post-music years, Bryar devoted much of his time to charitable causes, particularly animal welfare. In 2022, he auctioned his iconic Black Parade uniform to raise funds for animal shelters impacted by Hurricane Ian in Florida and South Carolina. He had previously donated a drum kit to support the Williamson County Animal Control and Adoption Center in Tennessee, reflecting his deep compassion for animals.

Bob Bryar leaves behind a legacy of music, kindness, and a dedication to making a difference. His contributions to My Chemical Romance and his charitable efforts will not be forgotten.
