Staind has issued a heartfelt statement on Jon Wysocki’s passing: “We first met Jon through mutual friends in 1994. In 1995, we came together with Mike, Aaron, and Johnny April to form Staind. The 17 years that followed were filled with unforgettable memories. From practicing in Ludlow, Mass to touring the globe, Jon was integral to our band. Our hearts go out to Jon’s family and fans around the world who loved him.”

Staind’s vocalist and guitarist, Aaron Lewis, also shared his grief: “I’m so sad. I lost my friend. A friend I loved like a brother… fought with like a brother… cared for like a brother… worried about like a brother… cried over like a brother… because he was my brother in arms. My journey would’ve been different without him.

“The battles we fought together, against each other, and side by side with our own demons—the battles we won and lost. He was my friend and our brother. My heart is broken. My world has changed.

“I’ll see you on the other side, my friend. My brother. Godspeed. My heart, my love, and my condolences go out to his family and loved ones. I’m so fucking sad. He will be missed.”

Tonya LeeAnne of Lydia’s Castle provided some context about Wysocki’s health: “Jon is currently in the ICU, dealing with liver issues that require medical attention. While he has been struggling, there are signs of slow recovery. Out of respect for Jon, Shannon, and his family, we ask that you do not bombard anyone close to this situation with questions or visit him in the ICU, allowing his family the time they need and deserve to be with him and prevent the waiting room from being flooded with friends who understandably want to see him.”
