GRETA VAN FLEET / WITH STARCATCHER, THE WORLD IS THERE FOR THE TAKING

When I first heard Greta Van Fleet, my initial impression leaned heavily towards seeing them as Led Zeppelin copycats. Even my wife mistook their music for unearthed Led Zeppelin tracks. But fast-forward a decade since GVF’s formation, and while echoes of Zeppelin remain, it’s become less fair to pigeonhole them in that comparison.

Release Date: July 21, 2023

By Paul Hutchings

With two albums under their belt, including the massively streamed second record, “The Battle At Garden’s Gate,” Greta Van Fleet now embarks on their third album phase, affirming their enduring presence. Their consistent sellout of headline shows over the past two years dispels any doubts about their staying power.

To capture their live essence, GVF opted to track their music live for “Starcatcher.” They embraced a stripped-down production approach, taking loose song concepts rather than fully formed tracks into the studio. This method allowed them the freedom to craft their music organically, minimizing over-editing and maximizing raw creativity.
