JANE’S ADDICTION has canceled the rest of its U.S. tour following an onstage altercation between frontman Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro during a September 13 concert at the Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston. The incident escalated after Farrell bumped Navarro’s shoulder, yelled at him, and seemingly threw a punch, prompting another individual to intervene.
On September 16, Navarro, bassist Eric Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins issued a joint statement, citing concerns over Farrell’s mental health and erratic behavior. They expressed regret about canceling the tour but felt it was necessary for everyone’s safety. Refunds for the canceled dates will be issued at the point of purchase.
Farrell’s wife, Etty Lau Farrell, provided further insight, explaining that tensions had been building within the band, partly due to the high volume of the performances, which Perry felt was drowning out his voice. Farrell, suffering from tinnitus and throat issues, reportedly lost control after receiving complaints from the audience about the sound levels.
The canceled tour dates included stops in major cities like Chicago, Denver, Seattle, and Los Angeles.
