JANE’S ADDICTION frontman Perry Farrell has issued an apology following an onstage altercation with guitarist Dave Navarro, which led to the cancellation of the band’s U.S. tour. In a statement posted on Instagram, Farrell expressed regret for his actions during the September 13 show in Boston, acknowledging that he reached a breaking point and behaved inappropriately. He apologized to his bandmates, fans, and family, taking full responsibility for the incident.
During the show, Farrell appeared to bump Navarro’s shoulder, yell at him, and even throw a punch before the situation was broken up. The band later announced that due to ongoing tensions and concerns for Farrell’s mental health, they had no choice but to cancel the remainder of the tour.
Navarro, along with bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins, released a statement expressing their disappointment, explaining that they could not continue performing under these circumstances. Farrell’s wife, Etty Lau Farrell, shared insight into the incident, explaining that Perry had been frustrated by the band’s volume, which aggravated his tinnitus and made it difficult for him to sing.
Fans with tickets were advised to seek refunds, as the band takes time away to regroup.
