In a new interview with Radioactive MikeZ, host of the 96.7 KCAL-FM program “Wired In The Empire,” former ROB ZOMBIE and current MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist John 5 was asked which METALLICA album he prefers, “Ride The Lightning” or “Master Of Puppets.” He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I would pick ‘Master Of Puppets,’ and here’s why. Everyone has their opinion, but the production on ‘Master Of Puppets’ is outstanding. I’m not saying the songs are necessarily better than those on ‘Ride The Lightning,’ but the production on ‘Master Of Puppets’ is incredible. It sounds amazing even today. It’s a wonderful record with well-written and well-executed songs. But it’s really the production that sets it apart. And then there’s the cover. The ‘Master Of Puppets’ cover is a beautiful piece of art. It’s gorgeous, and the back cover is great too. Maybe it’s just me, but I got ‘Ride The Lightning’ first and then ‘Master Of Puppets,’ so that’s what I would have to say.”

When asked to name his favorite METALLICA song, John 5 said: “I have to say… Boy, let’s see. That’s a tough one. This might be an odd choice, but I love ‘…And Justice For All.’ The reason I love ‘…And Justice For All’ is because I was with METALLICA on the ‘…And Justice For All’ tour for a lot of dates. I was really good friends with those guys and traveled around with them. We had a blast. I remember jamming the intro to ‘…And Justice For All’ with Kirk [Hammett, METALLICA guitarist], so it has a special fondness in my heart.”
