In a recent interview with *Metal Injection*, Mötley Crüe guitarist John 5 discussed the respect he’s earned from fans and his dedication to faithfully recreating Mick Mars’ original solos.
“I absolutely feel that way. The fans have been incredibly supportive, and I think a lot of it comes from my love for Mick and staying true to the way he played those solos,” John 5 said. “I’m not adding crazy new riffs to songs like ‘Looks That Kill’ or ‘Home Sweet Home.'”
He added, “Every song we perform, I stick to how they were originally written and recorded because that’s what I admire—it’s flawless. I don’t want to alter perfection. I believe that’s why the fans have welcomed me, because I respect the music and those iconic albums.”
John 5 joined Mötley Crüe in October 2022 after Mick Mars stepped down due to health issues. He’s been vocal about his admiration for Mars, stating in another interview, “What matters most is the deep respect and affection I have for Mick. If anyone were to take on this role, I believe Mick would trust me to do it because I genuinely love the music, his solos, and him as a person—just like everyone else does. That’s what makes it so important to me.”
Meanwhile, Mötley Crüe is set to release a new EP, *Cancelled*, featuring three fresh tracks: “Dogs of War,” the title track, and a cover of the Beastie Boys’ anthem “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!).”
