In a recent interview with 100.3 The X Rocks, Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale addressed the buzz around Linkin Park’s return and the rumors that she might be their new lead singer. She humorously recounted how her cover of Linkin Park’s “Crawling” led to confusion in the industry, with management and booking agents reaching out, believing she was being considered for the role.

Hale explained that while she intended the cover as a tribute, it was also meant to stir the pot a bit. “It was a little ‘let me do this cover that I’ve been wanting to do forever’ while also saying nothing,” she said, acknowledging the fun of playing with fans’ expectations.

She jokingly offered her cover as an “official audition tape,” expressing her love for Linkin Park’s music and her readiness to step in if needed. Despite the speculation, she confirmed that she hadn’t received any offers from the band.

Before the announcement of Linkin Park’s new singer, Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara, several names circulated in the rumor mill, including Deryck Whibley from Sum 41, who later clarified he wasn’t joining any major bands. Hale’s timing with her cover only added to the excitement, with fans speculating about potential connections.

Ultimately, while Hale appreciated the interest, she is not joining Linkin Park, but her cover remains a heartfelt tribute to the band.
