On July 26, Lzzy Hale took to Instagram to celebrate Taylor Momsen’s 31st birthday with a heartfelt post. Sharing photos of the two taken by Rob Fenn, Hale’s caption praised Momsen’s enduring spirit and talent:
“Happy birthday to my sister bansheeee, Taylor Momsen… What a marvel this woman is. A soul full of stars that has fought through many lifetimes to get here… she has lived to tell the tale and pass her flame to everyone she reaches. Do something just for You today, Taylor! See ya on the high seas!”
Hale has long admired Momsen’s authenticity in the rock scene. During their 2015 tour together, Hale described Momsen as a “true rock-and-roll chick,” noting that Momsen’s passion for music is driven by genuine love rather than fame or financial gain. Hale appreciated Momsen’s dedication and consistency, stating:
“She’s one of those true, just right-down-to-her-core rock-and-roll chicks. It’s an interesting perspective, because she’s not doing it for the fame, ’cause she’s already had that with her acting career, she’s not doing it for the money, so she literally walks out there every day and just wants to rock. And it’s really refreshing to see… And she’s so consistent.”
The friendship between Hale and Momsen extends beyond admiration. The two frontwomen have collaborated musically, notably on a cover of Queen’s “We Will Rock You” in 2020. Reflecting on the collaboration, Momsen shared:
“Maria [Brink] called up and said, ‘Hey, I have this idea. Lzzy is on board. Is this something you’d be interested in?’ Obviously, ‘We Will Rock You’ by Queen is a fantastic song; I’m a huge fan. And Maria and Lzzy are dear friends, so it just kind of felt like a very natural collaboration. So, I said yes and sang my part, and now it is what you guys can all hear.”
Currently, The Pretty Reckless is gearing up to perform in Nuremberg, Germany, supporting Led Zeppelin on July 27, while Halestorm is set to rock York, Pennsylvania, on the same day.
