In a recent episode of “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk,” which aired on August 22, Michael Anthony, the renowned bassist, was asked about his current relationship with Alex Van Halen, particularly in light of the news that Sammy Hagar, the former lead singer of Van Halen, is embarking on a tour with Joe Satriani, Jason Bonham, and Michael Anthony himself.
Michael Anthony revealed that he has not been in touch with Alex Van Halen recently. He mentioned that his last attempt to reach out was on Alex’s birthday in May, but unfortunately, he did not receive a response. Michael explained that he chose not to persist in his efforts to contact Alex, as he felt that Alex was aware of his attempt. He decided to respect Alex’s space and not press the issue any further. Reflecting on the situation, Michael added, “At this point, I’m just waiting for his book to come out so I can read that.”
When asked about Alex Van Halen’s forthcoming book titled “Brothers,” which is scheduled for release in October, Michael Anthony admitted that he knows as much about it as the general public. He expressed his eagerness to read the book once it’s available. Michael also shared his surprise upon first hearing about the book, as well as the news of Alex selling off a significant amount of his gear. He noted that Alex appeared to be selling items down to the last drumstick and backstage pass. This move struck Michael as quite surprising, suggesting that it might be Alex’s way of finding closure on his past.
