Mick Mars, known for his time with Mötley Crüe, marked a new chapter in his career by releasing his first solo single, ‘Loyal To The Lie,’ on October 31. This release, a significant departure from his past with the band, comes after a period marked by legal disputes with his former bandmates. However, Mars clarified in an interview with Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM that his new song is not about these conflicts.
Discussing his chronic illness, ankylosing spondylitis, Mars reflected on his time with Mötley Crüe and his decision to move on due to the challenges of traveling with his condition. He emphasized that ‘Loyal To The Lie’ addresses broader themes of deceit and manipulation in society, citing examples like cults and government actions.
‘The Other Side Of Mars,’ Mars’ upcoming album set to release on February 23, 2024, promises a sound distinct from Mötley Crüe’s. Mars described his solo work as a collection of unique ideas, acknowledging that it might both gain and lose fans. The album features tracks like ‘Killing Breed’ and ‘Broken On The Inside,’ and includes collaborations with artists such as Jacob Bunton and Ray Luzier.
The album also had contributions from John Corabi, who provided vocals for tracks like ‘Shake The Cage.’ However, these collaborations didn’t make it to the final album. Corabi, in a conversation with Chris Gaydos, expressed uncertainty about the release of Mars’ album, hinting at possible complications due to Mötley Crüe’s manager, Allen Kovac, owning the record label Mars is signed to. Corabi hopes for a successful release despite these potential challenges.
