MUDVAYNE guitarist Greg Tribbett will be missing the remaining dates of the band’s “Destroy All Enemies” tour with MEGADETH due to a family matter. In his absence, MUDVAYNE’s touring guitarist Marcus Rafferty, who has previously worked as a guitar tech for bands like LAMB OF GOD, HATEBREED, and HELLYEAH (which featured both Tribbett and vocalist Chad Gray), will step in to fill his role.
Earlier today (Monday, September 16), Tribbett shared a heartfelt statement on social media: “Greetings Metal family! First things first, MUDVAYNE will be playing every show on our calendar! That being said, it is with a heavy heart that I have to leave the tour on Monday, September 16th, due to a family issue that I have to go home to. Family first, right? But rest assured, the band will finish this MEGADETH run and all our scheduled dates, including Knotfest in South America and the Mexico City show. Our boy @marcusrafferty30 will be stepping in for me. Thank you all for your love and support for me and my family during this time.”
MUDVAYNE recently completed their first headlining tour in over 14 years, titled “The Psychotherapy Sessions,” which took place in the summer of 2023. The 26-city tour was produced by Live Nation and featured support from COAL CHAMBER, GWAR, NONPOINT, and BUTCHER BABIES.
In 2022, MUDVAYNE co-headlined the “Freaks On Parade” tour alongside ROB ZOMBIE. However, the 2023 tour marked MUDVAYNE’s first headlining effort since 2009. Vocalist Chad Gray shared with The Oakland Press that the motivation behind reuniting MUDVAYNE was largely for their fans, especially the younger generation that discovered the band during its hiatus. “You have this rumbling ground that touches more people, but we weren’t out there to scratch that itch. So when we came back, it was exciting for us. It was about our fans and giving new fans the experience,” Gray said.
Formed in 1996, MUDVAYNE has sold over six million records globally and received gold certifications for albums such as L.D. 50, The End Of All Things To Come, and Lost And Found. The band is well-known for its experimental sound, distinctive album art, and unique visual elements like face paint, masks, and uniforms.
Chad Gray also spent 15 years fronting HELLYEAH, which released its final album with drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott, Welcome Home, in 2019.
