Smashing Pumpkins’ New Guitarist Kiki Wong Shares Her Excitement After First Show
Kiki Wong, the newest member of The Smashing Pumpkins, took to Instagram to express her excitement following her debut performance with the legendary band.
In her heartfelt post, Wong shared photos from their concert in Birmingham and wrote:
“Playing the first show of the tour at the Utilita Arena Birmingham was an absolutely mind-blowing experience. Here are some fun fan photos from the show! I’m overwhelmed with excitement. It was such an honor to play my first arena on guitar with this incredible group of musicians. Someone pinch me – actually, don’t because I want to keep living this dream. Tonight we play the O2. Sold-out show, let’s go!!”

A few shows into the tour, Wong updated her followers with more insights into her experience:
“This tour with Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, and Teen Mortgage has been insane. It’s truly the tour of a lifetime. I’ve never felt more musically fulfilled. Tonight we play the brand new Co-op Live. I always dreamed of playing massive stages like this but never knew what it would actually be like.”
She added:
“When the whole crowd is screaming every lyric at the top of their lungs to the song you’re playing, there is nothing greater than that. It hits you right in the heart and is so much more magical than I ever imagined. No words can describe how grateful I am for this experience. Thank you so much, Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, James Iha, Jack Bates, and Katie Cole for believing in me.”
Last October, original guitarist Jeff Schroeder departed from Smashing Pumpkins. The band began searching for a new guitarist, keeping fans updated along the way. In April, they announced that Kiki Wong would be their new official guitarist. Wong expressed her excitement about joining the band, calling it a dream come true after years of hard work.
