**Oli Sykes Refuses to Perform ‘Medicine’ at Bring Me the Horizon Show**
During Bring Me the Horizon’s concert in Germany on June 23, Oli Sykes made headlines by refusing to play their hit song, “Medicine.” In a video posted on X, the singer is seen kneeling on the ground, checking the night’s setlist. He then addressed the crowd:
“All right, what we’re gonna do… what would you like to hear?”
When a fan shouted out the pop-influenced track “Medicine” from the album *amo*, Sykes responded:
“‘Medicine’? Are you guys all right? You guys would like to hear ‘Medicine’? Even I think that song is sh*t.”
Before the video ends, Sykes mentioned other songs like “Pray for Plagues,” “Chelsea Smile,” and “Don’t Look Down.” “Medicine,” released on January 3, 2019, as the third single from *amo*, is the second most-streamed song from the album on Spotify with over 100 million plays. The music video has nearly 30 million views on YouTube.
### What Is ‘Medicine’ About?
The song reflects Sykes’ past relationship with Hannah Snowdon, which ended in a difficult divorce in early 2016. Both Sykes and keyboardist Jordan Fish confirmed that “Medicine” is connected to this personal experience. Fish explained to Kerrang! in a 2018 interview:
“It’s about people who are negative influences and how when they leave your life, things get much better. It’s a mixture of the electronic and radio-friendly elements of our band, but it’s still got characteristics of some of the bigger songs we’ve done before. You’d need to ask Oli who exactly that’s about, but I can think of a few people it might be about…”
Bring Me the Horizon is currently on their European tour, with their next performance in Spain on June 27. They will also visit Finland, Sweden, France, Italy, Romania, Greece, and Bulgaria.
