Oz Fox of Stryper has provided an encouraging update on his health, three months after undergoing brain surgery. In a recent Facebook Live session with his wife, Annie Lobert, Fox shared his progress and his hopes for rejoining the band soon.
Fox, who missed Stryper’s spring 2024 ‘To Hell With The Amps’ acoustic tour due to his surgery, revealed that he is currently in the process of preparing for a return. “I’m getting things together, because I’m going to rehearse,” he said during the live stream. “So I just thought I’d let you know that I am planning to be out with the [the rest of the Stryper] boys [on the band’s 40th-anniversary tour starting in early September]. We’re still planning, so it’s just still kind of in the works, but I’m feeling a lot better.”
Fox has completed his chemotherapy and radiation treatments, although he mentioned that he will continue some additional medication. “I finished radiation not last Monday, but the Monday before,” he noted. His doctors had been uncertain about his recovery, so Fox’s positive response to treatment is a significant boost.
In May, Stryper announced Fox’s absence from their acoustic tour due to his need for brain surgery. They informed fans that Will Doughty would step in to play keyboards and provide harmonies during the tour. The band expressed their sadness about Fox’s absence but were supportive of the decision.
Fox’s health issues began in August 2018 when he had his first seizure while performing with Sin City Sinners. Over the next two and a half years, he discovered two tumors—one near his ear and the other at the back of his brain. He underwent brain surgery in March 2021 to address these tumors.
Stryper’s upcoming 40th-anniversary tour will feature a mix of classic hits and newer material, with an updated show production and a two-set ‘evening with’ style performance in many cities. Fans are eagerly awaiting Fox’s return and celebrating the band’s milestone year.
