In a recent interview on Billboard’s Behind The Setlist podcast, Paul Stanley expressed his belief that KISS’s upcoming avatar shows will surpass ABBA’s digital performances. He praised the ABBA show for its quality, noting, “Pophouse has done a great job… it’s terrific entertainment.” However, he emphasized that KISS aims to leverage more advanced technology than what ABBA currently uses.
Stanley clarified, “We’re working with ILM [Industrial Light & Magic] to create something that’s not just a concert.” He noted that while the term “hologram” is often misused, KISS intends to deliver an immersive experience rather than a mere simulated concert. “Frankly, I would find that boring. How long can you look at something that just resembles an amp?” he said.
He described the project as a “must-see experience” that will captivate both KISS fans and those unfamiliar with the band. “It’s KISS and Cirque du Soleil on steroids,” Stanley remarked, aiming to blend reality with digital innovation.
Gene Simmons previously revealed that the ambitious project will cost around $200 million, highlighting KISS’s commitment to creating groundbreaking digital versions of the band. Stanley reiterated that their goal is to break the rules of traditional performances, making their show a unique and unforgettable event.
