David Gilmour, the renowned guitarist from Pink Floyd, is currently immersed in the creative process at his Brighton recording studio, working on what is rumored to be a new album set for release in 2024.

His wife, Polly Samson, an accomplished author and lyricist, has been actively documenting his progress through Instagram over the last year and a half, giving fans a glimpse into his musical journey.

The studio sessions have been graced with the presence of several notable musicians. Roger Eno, known for his work on ‘Rattle That Lock’ and being the brother of Brian Eno, has been seen alongside the talented bassist Guy Pratt, a familiar face in both Pink Floyd and Gilmour’s projects, and a member of Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets. Joining them are drummer Adam Betts, whose dynamic career includes collaborations with Pulp and various dance artists like Pete Tong, Goldie, and Squarepusher, and bassist Tom Herbert from the Mercury Prize-nominated bands The Invisible and Polar Bear.

Adding to the intrigue, Polly Samson recently shared a photo of Gilmour with producer Charlie Andrew, renowned for his work with Alt-J, James, Wolf Alice, and London Grammar.

Although the specific purpose of these sessions remains a mystery, the Pink Floyd fan site Neptune Pink Floyd cites a statement from Samson to the Romanian entertainment website Zile si Nopti, hinting that Gilmour is crafting an album of original material.

Should this album materialize in 2024, it will mark Gilmour’s first solo release since the successful ‘Rattle That Lock’ in 2015. Gilmour has kept his musical spirit alive with the 2020 solo single ‘Yes, I Have Ghosts’ and a brief Pink Floyd reunion for the charity single ‘Hey, Hey, Rise Up!’ in collaboration with Andriy Khlyvnyuk of BoomBox.

It’s been a while since Gilmour’s fans have seen him perform live; his last full concert was a six-night stint at London’s Royal Albert Hall in September 2016. This new project, steeped in collaboration and creative energy, is eagerly awaited by fans and the music community alike.
