Rikki Rockett has formed a new band called THE ROCKETT MAFIA, featuring Brandon Gibbs (DEVIL CITY ANGELS) on vocals and guitar, Mick Sweda (BULLETBOYS) on guitar and backing vocals, and Bryan Kimes on bass and backing vocals. Their debut performance took place in May at the end of The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride in Santa Monica, California, where they were also joined by guitarist Brent Woods and bassist Wiley Hodgden.
Rockett and Gibbs had previously worked together in DEVIL CITY ANGELS, which also included Tracii Guns (L.A. GUNS) and Eric Brittingham (CINDERELLA). After some lineup changes and a period of inactivity, they formed THE ROCKETT MAFIA as a new project. Rockett expressed excitement about this new venture, describing it as a chance to rekindle his passion for rock ‘n’ roll with friends and former collaborators.
In an earlier post, Rockett reflected on his experience with DEVIL CITY ANGELS and his battle with cancer, which contributed to the band’s inactivity. Despite previous public disagreements with Gibbs regarding the band’s status, they have resolved their differences and are now collaborating on this new project.
Rockett emphasized that THE ROCKETT MAFIA is not a continuation of DEVIL CITY ANGELS or CHEVY METAL but rather a fresh endeavor aimed at enjoying rock music with his close friends.
