**Adam Lambert Talks About Evolving Attitudes Toward Sex and LGBTQ+ Visibility**
In a recent interview with GRAMMY.com, Adam Lambert shared his thoughts on the changing perceptions of sex and sexuality. He noted that societal attitudes have become more open, thanks to the current sociopolitical climate and the influence of social media.
“There’s less and less shame around sex than ever before,” Lambert said. “We’re more mainstream than we’ve ever been — thanks to social media and other forms of online media. And that’s really exciting. Sex is fantastic, healing, and wonderful. It’s our human right to explore our sexuality, and I see more people embracing that freedom.”
Lambert also spoke with Them magazine about the increasing presence of queer artists in pop music. He praised the genre for its exploration of gay themes but acknowledged the backlash from conservative groups. Despite this, he remains motivated:
“The queer community has made tremendous progress over the last 15 years. However, we’re now facing pushback from some conservative sectors. It might make some people cautious, but it fuels my determination. It makes me want to shine even brighter and be unapologetically myself.”
Reflecting on his experience with media interviews, Lambert recalled how discussions about his sexuality have evolved. He noted a shift from intrusive questions to more respectful conversations with queer and queer-allied journalists.
“Queer and queer-allied journalists who understand the issues are always more comfortable to talk to,” Lambert explained. “The awkwardness often came from mainstream journalists asking ignorant questions.”
Since rising to fame on ‘American Idol,’ Lambert has used his platform to champion LGBTQ+ visibility and encourage others to embrace their true selves. Despite the challenges, he remains committed to authenticity and representation.
