Bobby Landgraf, PANTERA’s bass technician, has launched a new YouTube channel called CREW FROM HELL 2.0. On this platform, he aims to provide a rare glimpse into the backstage world of rock tours. “We love what we do, and it shows,” Landgraf says, promising fans a unique perspective on their work.
Landgraf has already uploaded the first five behind-the-scenes videos from PANTERA’s 2023 and 2024 tours, which can be viewed below.
In an interview with Sweetwater, PANTERA bassist Rex Brown discussed the band’s decision to tour with a new lineup, featuring surviving members Philip Anselmo on vocals, Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE) on guitar, and Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX) on drums. The reformed band has the blessing of the estates of PANTERA’s founders, drummer Vincent “Vinnie Paul” Abbott and guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott.
Rex shared a poignant moment from the tour: “At the last show, I felt a cold presence, something eerie. It’s happened a few times, especially when Charlie and I were recording before Zakk joined us. To me, they’re angels—Vinnie and Dimebag. I think they’re watching us, and I believe they’d be pleased with what we’re doing. Our bond with Charlie and Zakk is strong, and our performance is improving continuously.”
Rex also spoke about the emotional experience of playing PANTERA’s music for a new generation of fans: “There are so many memories tied to this band. Losing Vinnie and Dime was unimaginable. Now, 22 years later, seeing new fans’ faces is incredible. Some are moved to tears, others are just ecstatic, telling us we did it right. It’s truly amazing.”
In a recent conversation with American Musical Supply, Rex reflected on how touring with PANTERA in 2024 differs from their earlier days: “This is a new chapter with Charlie and Zakk, who have been great friends for years. Charlie and I spent about six months working on the setlist and practicing before rehearsals with the full band. This has made us a tight unit. Zakk brings his own flair while honoring Dime’s unique style. For me, seeing the brothers’ images on screen during our shows is deeply meaningful.”
