Sammy Hagar Admits He’s Not Very Successful Without Eddie Van Halen On His Side

Sammy Hagar recently opened up to *Variety* about his collaborative songwriting process, revealing that he feels he works best with other musicians like Eddie Van Halen and Joe Satriani. He stated:

“Not to beat my chest or anything, but I’m a real easy guy to work with. I really don’t have an ego when it comes to music. I’m always better with other people, I’ll be the first to admit. I personally know that when I write songs with Eddie [Van Halen] or Joe [Satriani], they were better than what I could do myself.”

Confirming Hagar’s Ease to Collaborate

Joe Satriani supported Hagar’s claim during an interview with *The Hook Rocks*. He compared Hagar’s collaborative spirit to that of David Lee Roth, noting:

“The real difference is that Sammy has a very inclusive approach to life. He recognizes when conflict is hindering progress and actively works to resolve it.”

Satriani further highlighted Hagar’s flexibility:

“So, when Sammy says, ‘Yeah, we’re gonna do ‘Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love,’ I know it’s not my song, but that’s cool,’ it reflects his collaborative nature. On the other hand, asking David Lee Roth to perform ‘5150’ would be another story altogether.”

Hagar Reunites with Van Halen Bandmates

Hagar’s reflections come as he prepares to reunite with his former Van Halen bandmates, a move that has fans excited about the potential for new music and performances.
