Sammy Hagar recently addressed the cancellation of his highly anticipated Sammy’s Island project at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, confirming that the tropical-themed destination won’t be moving forward. The singer responded to a fan’s question on Instagram, explaining that financial concerns led to the decision:
“It’s true that organization didn’t get it. They don’t understand redheads hanging around having a good time and not spending enough time at the tables, gambling and losing their money. Sorry to say it, but that’s part of it.”
Sammy’s Island was initially announced in early 2024 as a poolside destination designed to embody Hagar’s laid-back, beachy lifestyle. Scheduled to launch on May 17, 2024, the concept featured a tropical atmosphere complete with a restaurant, bar, live music events, and DJ sets, all inspired by Hagar’s music and personal brand.
At the time of the announcement, Hagar was ecstatic about the venture, stating, “I gotta pinch myself! I’ve been dreaming about this island concept for many years now, wrote a song about it over a decade ago, and to see it coming together in of all places, the fabulous Palms Resort and Casino in Las Vegas the perfect fit for this little oasis. We’ve got big fun coming up this summer folks. Let the party begin.”
Unfortunately, despite Hagar’s enthusiasm and the grand vision for the venue, it appears that the financial model didn’t align with the resort’s expectations. The cancellation has disappointed fans who were looking forward to experiencing Hagar’s signature island vibes in the heart of Las Vegas.
Hagar, who performed at the Palms last October to celebrate his birthday with Rick Springfield, continues to stay active with his music and other ventures, although Sammy’s Island won’t be part of his legacy.
