For those hoping to see David Lee Roth join Sammy Hagar on his *Best Of All Worlds* tour, it’s not going to happen.
In a recent interview with Sirius XM’s Eddie Trunk, the Red Rocker revealed that Roth went silent after learning he would only appear in two or three songs instead of the full set. Hagar explained:
“He went AWOL. After I clarified the offer, he just kind of slept on it, which is fine. I don’t need Roth antagonizing me. If he really wanted to come out and play music, sing a song, and be real without trying to pull some crazy whacked-out stuff.”
Hagar also expressed his desire for Roth to take the lead on a specific Van Halen track:
“You know, the guy’s unpredictable. And God bless him, he’s been an entertainer his whole life, he’s a showman, and he likes to upstage people—that’s been his thing. We’re just not into that. I would love for him to come out and sing ‘Jump’ at the end of the show. Just come out and sing the f*cker instead of me.”
Despite Roth’s decision, Hagar isn’t upset that he declined the offer.
