In a recent interview with David Yontef on the “Behind The Velvet Rope” podcast, Sebastian Bach was asked if he thinks the classic SKID ROW lineup will ever reunite.
He responded, “Well, I do think so, because I really think that the main reason that hasn’t happened is because of business. We haven’t been in the same room since 1996. That’s a fact. So I don’t have anything against anybody from 1996. I barely remember 1996. [Laughs] So, I mean, the fact that we’re all still alive, I would say, yes, I think if we can figure out the business side of it, there’s no reason why not.”
He continued, “I have a brand new [solo] single called ‘What Do I Got To Lose?’ that’s available now on all streaming platforms, and the video is out on YouTube. And playing the drums in my new video is none other than Rob Affuso, the drummer from [the classic lineup of] SKID ROW.”
When Yontef noted that “it’s like a mini reunion” of the classic SKID ROW lineup, Bach said, “Yes. Well, I wouldn’t say ‘mini’, because the band SKID ROW right now has three or two, at some times, members [from the classic lineup]. And so my solo band has two. [Laughs] We’re trying, we’re trying. [Laughs]”
Regarding what it might take for the classic SKID ROW lineup to reunite, Bach said, “I’m sure you’ve seen the METALLICA documentary ‘Some Kind Of Monster’ where they have all the therapist and everybody. ‘We have to stop at 4 p.m.’ I’m sure you’ve seen that. It’s all about the band working with a therapist. SKID ROW never worked with no therapist. We didn’t have anybody at all trying to help us out or be a mediator — that never happened ever. So, I don’t understand when I read, like, a book on AEROSMITH or a book on MÖTLEY CRÜE or a book on the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, all these bands have therapists that work stuff out in between the band members. I don’t understand why we never even tried anything like that. We can’t even text each other. Well, why does every other band get [a therapist], but we don’t? So that kind of pisses me off a bit.”
Bach fronted SKID ROW until 1996, when he was fired. Instead of disbanding, the remaining members took a hiatus and briefly played in a band called OZONE MONDAY. In 1999, SKID ROW reformed and, after some lineup changes over the years, featured bassist Rachel Bolan, guitarists Dave “Snake” Sabo and Scotti Hill, drummer Rob Hammersmith, and singer Johnny Solinger. SKID ROW fired Solinger in April 2015, hours before announcing ex-TNT vocalist Tony Harnell as his replacement. Eight months later, Harnell left the band and was replaced by South African-born, British-based singer ZP Theart, who previously fronted DRAGONFORCE, TANK, and I AM I. Theart was fired from SKID ROW in February 2022 and was replaced by Erik Grönwall, formerly of the Swedish hard rock band H.E.A.T.
