Tubi Films has released a new clip from its upcoming dark western thriller *The Thicket*, featuring a role by METALLICA’s James Hetfield. The film, set for theatrical release on September 6, is based on Joe R. Lansdale’s novel of the same name and boasts a star-studded cast including Peter Dinklage, Juliette Lewis, Esmé Creed-Miles, and more.
In *The Thicket*, Peter Dinklage plays Shorty, a bounty hunter on a mission to rescue a woman kidnapped by a violent killer. Set at the turn of the 20th century, the film follows Shorty and his team as they navigate the dangerous and chaotic Big Thicket. James Hetfield’s involvement in the film adds an extra layer of excitement, especially given his prior foray into acting with the Netflix thriller *Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile* in 2019, where he portrayed officer Bob Hayward.
Director Elliott Lester, who helmed *The Thicket*, shared the story of how Hetfield was cast in the film. According to Lester, the idea to include Hetfield came to him in a dream, and he was determined to make it a reality. Lester and Peter Dinklage worked tirelessly to reach out to Hetfield, eventually succeeding with the help of writer/director Sacha Gervasi. Despite initial uncertainty, Hetfield expressed interest in the role and quickly became an integral part of the project. Lester praised Hetfield’s dedication and passion, stating that his involvement brought a unique intensity to the film.
Hetfield’s role in *The Thicket* marks another significant step in his acting career, and fans of both METALLICA and western thrillers will likely be eager to see how he contributes to the dark and gritty world of the film.
