Slash Doesn’t Want To Be Seen As ‘The Guitar Player’ As He Eyes Hollywood Success

Legendary Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash is eager to redefine his image, stepping beyond his rock star persona to showcase his creativity in new arenas. In a candid interview with The Times, Slash opened up about his ambitions to be seen as more than a guitarist.

“I need people to stop looking at me as the guitar player,” Slash shared, reflecting on his foray into film production. “It’s a Catch-22. Having a name helps get a meeting, but that can overshadow the project. It’s great for a foot in the door, but harder to get people to take you seriously.”

Slash’s journey into film began in 2013 with the horror film Nothing Left to Fear. Now, his current project, The Crow Girl, marks his most ambitious endeavor yet. The psychological thriller series, based on the bestselling novel by Erik Axl Sund, is being developed for Paramount+ and boasts a stellar team. Directed by Charles Martin and Rebecca Rycroft, with Andy Mosse as producer, the series promises to captivate audiences with its dark, intense storytelling.

Slash joined the project as an Executive Producer in 2022, a role that extends beyond overseeing production. He also collaborated on the soundtrack with composer Adam Price, known for his work on Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 and Black Adam.

The guitarist even visited the production crew on location in Bristol this past May, where producer Andy Mosse shared a photo of Slash on set and praised his hands-on involvement. “Slash’s dedication to this project has been incredible. He’s bringing so much passion and creativity,” Mosse commented.

For Slash, The Crow Girl represents a significant step in establishing himself as a creative force outside of music. While his guitar playing has defined him for decades, this project underscores his versatility and drive to explore new forms of storytelling.

With The Crow Girl slated for release on Paramount+, Slash is proving that reinvention is possible—even for a rock icon. Fans of both his music and his evolving creative pursuits will no doubt be eagerly watching as this new chapter unfolds.
