A musician recently reflected on his performance at a drumming contest for Drumeo. He commented on a solo he played at 14, saying:
“I remember that I really wanted to play metal when I was 14 years old. So, I had to finish my drum solo with a metal groove, and there is something that I really like to say: I don’t regret anything that I played here in that solo. Because I really respect the moment that I was living.”
He also discussed how winning the contest helped launch his career:
“I was only 14 years old. So, I had a different mind. I respect my past. I’m okay with my past. But, for sure, this solo changed my life. It was the beginning of my career on drums, and after that, one year later, I came to the US to do a clinic tour. I was only 15 years old. I started playing in Brazil, doing a lot of drum clinics, and two or three years later, I got into a band.”
The musician later joined a new band and addressed the backlash from fans in an interview:
“Some people like one band. Some people don’t like another. Some people like pizza. Some people like hamburgers. Some people like pepperoni pizza. Some people like cheese pizza. So, it’s kind of like that. People like to say out loud their preferences. It was a choice of mine. I did it for myself and yeah, a lot of people didn’t like my decision but people that matter to me got on my side.”
He shared about his new group:
“My wife, my mother, my close friends. It was a fully conscious decision. I knew all the consequences about that. But yeah, a bunch of other people didn’t like my decision at all but when I met the guys and we spent 10 days together, being there with them was always very professional, very objective, and focused. The band is a big company.”
The band teased their first song with him in May, titled ‘Long May You Die,’ but it doesn’t have a release date yet.
