Everyone knows at least one Metallica song, right? My stepmom, who’s in her 70s, has a music repertoire that pretty much stops at Elvis Presley, but I’m confident that even she could probably name “Enter Sandman” if she really had to. And if you’re into metal, even if you despise Metallica, I’d still expect you to be able to name at least two or three of their songs. You don’t have to be a fan, but songs like “Master of Puppets,” “One,” “Nothing Else Matters,” “Fuel,” and “For Whom the Bell Tolls” are so iconic that even the most die-hard Metallica critics have likely absorbed them by osmosis.
However, it seems that Stryper’s Michael Sweet wants us to believe otherwise. In a recent interview with Myglobalmind, transcribed by Blabbermouth, Sweet was asked if he caught Metallica’s recent show in Massachusetts. Surprisingly, Sweet claimed that he couldn’t name a single song from what is arguably the most renowned band among the “Big Four” of thrash metal.
