LORDOFTHE80S has shared footage of I AM MORBID’s December 11 performance at Lovedraft’s Brewing Co. in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. You can watch clips from the show below.
I AM MORBID, the group led by ex-MORBID ANGEL members David Vincent (bass/vocals) and Pedro “Pete” Sandoval (drums), alongside guitarists Richie Brown (EXMORTUS, THE ABSENCE, TRIVIUM) and Bill Hudson (NORTHTALE, DORO), began the seventh annual “Devastation On The Nation” U.S. tour on November 15 at the Orpheum in Tampa, Florida.
The band focuses on delivering classic material from MORBID ANGEL’s iconic albums Altars Of Madness (1989), Blessed Are The Sick (1991), Covenant (1993), and Domination (1995). I AM MORBID joined this year’s tour lineup after MORBID ANGEL, originally slated to headline, withdrew due to “unforeseen circumstances,” according to the organizers.
In October 2022, I AM MORBID underwent a lineup change when guitarist Kelly McLauchlin (POSSESSED, DIABOLIC, UNHOLY GHOST) departed and was replaced by Richie Brown. Brown made his live debut with the band at Grita Fest in Colombia.
The spring 2022 European tour marked a reunion for Sandoval and Vincent, their first time playing together in 12 years. Sandoval, now a born-again Christian, exited MORBID ANGEL in 2010 following surgery for a prolapsed disc. In a 2013 interview with Invisible Oranges, Vincent explained that Sandoval’s newfound faith rendered him and MORBID ANGEL “incompatible.”
After parting ways with MORBID ANGEL, Sandoval spent several years with TERRORIZER, recording and touring with the group. TERRORIZER’s most recent album, Caustic Attack, came out in October 2018 via The End Records.
Vincent himself departed MORBID ANGEL in 2015 and was replaced by returning member Steve Tucker, who previously contributed vocals and bass to albums like Formulas Fatal To The Flesh, Gateways To Annihilation, and Heretic.
This ongoing tour is a celebration of death metal classics, with I AM MORBID delivering an unforgettable experience for fans.
