In a moment that resonated with gratitude and musical synergy, country singer Mickey Guyton shared the stage with Metallica at the Global Citizen Festival in New York, delivering a stirring rendition of ‘Nothing Else Matters.’

Guyton seamlessly integrated into Metallica’s headlining set at Central Park, earning praise from James Hetfield, who exclaimed, “Finally a real singer!” The country artist showcased her vocal prowess as she passionately navigated through the verses and engaged in a captivating duet with Hetfield during the chorus, adding a distinctive touch to the classic track.

This collaboration marked a continuation of Guyton’s connection with Metallica, as she had previously covered ‘Nothing Else Matters’ on the 2021 tribute album ‘The Metallica Blacklist.’ Released in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Metallica’s eponymous 1991 album, the tribute compilation featured a star-studded lineup, including Ghost, Rina Sawayama, Weezer, Sam Fender, St. Vincent, Moses Sumney, Phoebe Bridgers, and more.

A fan-captured video showcases Guyton’s impactful performance at the Global Citizen Festival, capturing the essence of the collaboration around the 24-minute mark.

Expressing her excitement and gratitude on Twitter, Guyton shared snapshots from the memorable appearance, stating, “There are no words. I’m just grateful.”

Metallica, known for their philanthropic efforts, recently announced their third ‘Helping Hands’ benefit concert, scheduled for December 16 at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater. The proceeds from the event will contribute to Metallica’s charity, All Within My Hands, dedicated to fostering sustainable communities through workforce education, addressing hunger, and providing essential local services. The foundation had previously donated substantial amounts to support communities during the COVID-19 crisis and to aid Ukrainian refugees.

In addition to her collaboration with Metallica, Guyton garnered acclaim earlier in the year for her powerful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner alongside Jhené Aiko at the Super Bowl. The singer continues to make impactful contributions to the musical landscape, seamlessly navigating between genres and leaving an indelible mark on each performance.
