John Foster’s Love Life: Staying Close to Brooklyn Bourque While Remembering Another Important Woman

John Foster captured America’s heart during Season 23 of American Idol, where he finished as the runner-up. Alongside his incredible performances, fans also got to meet his girlfriend, Brooklyn Bourque, who cheered him on from the audience throughout the season.

Even after the show wrapped in mid-May, Foster and Bourque have kept their relationship strong despite his hectic schedule. They recently enjoyed a much-needed getaway, thanks to a Disney Cruise Line trip gifted to Foster and Season 23 winner Jamal Roberts. In August, Foster shared a sunny selfie from the Bahamas with Bourque, writing, “We’re enjoying round two of the beach—this time in the Bahamas! Thank you, @americanidol and @abc, for this memorable trip on the @disneycruiseline. Most of all, thank you, God, for this beautiful life!”

Before the Bahamas trip, the couple also spent time together in Florida back in June, balancing relaxation with Foster’s busy work on new music in Nashville. “@brooklyn_bourque and I are sending all of our family love from Navarre Beach! We’re enjoying some relaxation in between working to get some great things going,” Foster posted on Instagram at the time.

Foster and Bourque have been together for over a year, celebrating their one-year anniversary on May 28, shortly after American Idol ended. Foster shared a heartfelt message for the milestone: “It’s been an amazing year and you’ve been beside me every step of the way. Happy 1 year anniversary. I love you so much.”

While Bourque is his romantic partner, another woman has had a lasting impact on Foster’s life — his friend Maggie Dunn. Dunn, along with her friend Caroline Gill, tragically passed away in a car accident in December 2022. Foster has credited that moment with solidifying his path in music, saying on the Fable House podcast that he “one million percent” knew music was the career for him after the loss.

Foster honored Dunn and Gill in his song “Tell That Angel That I Love Her,” which he performed on American Idol and later released as his first single post-show. The song remains a deeply personal tribute to the friends who shaped his journey and inspired his artistry.

Despite the heartache tied to Maggie’s memory, Foster’s love for Bourque continues to flourish. Together, they navigate the challenges of fame, long-distance moments, and a busy touring schedule — proving that love and music can both thrive, even in the spotlight.
