SAN ANTONIO — The “King of Country Music” is returning to Alamo City with a performance that promises to be unforgettable. George Strait will headline the 2024 Congressional Medal of Honor Society’s Patriot Awards Gala, a night dedicated to honoring America’s true heroes.
Strait, who proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1975, has long used his voice and platform to support veterans. Beyond selling over 120 million albums and setting the record for the largest ticketed concert in U.S. history with more than 111,000 fans at Kyle Field, he’s also championed causes close to the military community. One of his most meaningful contributions has been supporting San Antonio’s Military Warriors Support Foundation, which helps wounded veterans and their families rebuild their lives.

Joining Strait at the gala will be actor and martial arts legend Chuck Norris, who will be presented with the prestigious Bob Hope Award of Excellence. Norris, who served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1962, began his martial arts journey while stationed in South Korea. After his service, he went on to dominate competitive karate, earn multiple black belts, and become a global icon through films like Way of the Dragon with Bruce Lee and the long-running TV series Walker, Texas Ranger. Off-screen, Norris has been a tireless advocate for veterans and military families.

The evening will also feature special honors for others who have shown extraordinary commitment to service:
-
Actor Taylor Kitsch, recognized for his role as Lt. Michael P. Murphy in Lone Survivor and his continued support of the military, will also receive the Bob Hope Award.
-
The Gene and Jerry Jones family will be presented with the Patriot Award.
-
Richard M. “Tres” Kleberg III will receive the Distinguished Citizen Award.
-
Martha MacCallum will be honored with the John R. “Tex” McCrary Award for Excellence in Journalism.
To top off the evening, actor and humanitarian Gary Sinise will emcee the gala, adding his own deep connection to veterans through decades of advocacy and the work of the Gary Sinise Foundation.
With George Strait’s timeless voice, Chuck Norris’ legendary presence, and a lineup of honorees who embody courage and service, this year’s Patriot Awards Gala is set to be more than just an event—it will be a heartfelt celebration of sacrifice, patriotism, and the enduring spirit of America’s heroes.
