Country music legend Connie Smith was all set to celebrate a milestone — 60 years as a member of the Grand Ole Opry — but fans will have to wait a little longer. Both Connie and her husband, fellow country star Marty Stuart, have fallen ill, forcing the special event to be postponed.

The Grand Ole Opry shared a statement saying:

The couple confirmed the news themselves, noting that Marty called it “the unwelcome presence of COVID in our home.” They promised fans the celebration will happen in the future, with both Connie and Marty together. Marty will also reschedule his upcoming concert in Louisville.

Fans quickly flooded social media with love, prayers, and well-wishes.

Though disappointing, the delay hasn’t dampened the love and admiration fans have for the Opry icon and her husband. Everyone is looking forward to celebrating this remarkable milestone together once they’re back in good health.
