During her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on August 2, Kelly Clarkson had a moment that fans won’t soon forget — and it included an unexpected little slip-up that showed just how real and passionate she is on stage.

While introducing her Kellyoke performance for the night, Kelly announced she would be covering Radiohead’s iconic 1992 hit, “Creep.” She told the crowd, “This is one of my favorite songs to cover. Now, nothing beats the original — I’m owning that — but I’m going to have fun with it.”

As the band kicked off the intro, something incredible happened. One of the musicians played a part so beautifully that Kelly literally stopped mid-sentence, caught completely off guard.

“Oh my God,” she exclaimed. “I totally missed this during rehearsal. That was stunning. I can’t even…” Then, pointing to her cellist, she said, “Ismael, oh my gosh! What the heck? We did this at soundcheck, and you did NOT do that!”

Kelly was so blown away that she asked Ismael Ariel Guerrero Bombut to play the solo again. “I wasn’t ready! Do it again! Start over! I just want to watch,” she said, completely mesmerized.

As he played again, Kelly watched with wide eyes and pure admiration. “That’s beautiful,” she said warmly before finally launching into her heartfelt cover.

Kelly later shared a clip of this magical moment on Instagram, captioning it, “I love performing this song so much!! Also, @ismacello, that was incredibly beautiful!”

Ismael himself responded, still amazed by the experience: “Kelly Clarkson stopped the show just to hear my solo again… I’m still processing.” He added, “Can’t believe this moment was caught on camera. My heart is so full and I’m forever grateful for this opportunity.”

This beautiful moment came after a rough start to Kelly’s Vegas residency, which was briefly postponed due to vocal issues. Since then, she’s been winning over audiences, making headlines with covers like Dolly Parton’s hits and even duetting with her daughter.
