Lainey Wilson: Focused on the Music, Not the Awards
Earlier this year, Wilson opened up to American Songwriter about her journey and what keeps her motivated. “At the end of the day, the awards are a good feeling, I’m not gonna lie. Everybody likes to be recognized. You feel like you’re on the right track. But I have to remind myself that I didn’t start doing this to win awards,” she said.
She added, “If I never win another award in my life, that’s okay. When I was nine years old writing my first song, I wasn’t thinking about ACMs, CMAs, or Grammys. I have to keep that mentality, because when you start doing things for the wrong reasons, it shows in everything you do.”
