Nicole Kidman Makes First Public Appearance After Divorce to Honor “Lioness” Creator Taylor Sheridan

Just four days after filing for divorce from Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman made her first major public appearance — and she did it for a meaningful reason. The actress stepped out to honor her longtime friend and Lioness creator, Taylor Sheridan, proving that even in the middle of personal change, her grace and professionalism never waver.

A Quiet End to a Long Marriage

On September 30, Kidman officially filed for divorce from Urban after 19 years of marriage. The filing took place in Tennessee’s Davidson County Circuit Court, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split. According to The Tennessean, the couple had already reached a settlement before the paperwork was submitted.

Their marital dissolution agreement — signed by Urban on August 29 and Kidman on September 6 — confirmed that neither would seek alimony. The pair shares two daughters, Sunday Rose (17) and Faith Margaret (14). Kidman was granted primary custody, with the girls spending 306 days of the year with her and 59 with Urban.

While both parents will continue to share decision-making responsibilities, the documents state that Kidman will have the final say if disagreements arise.

Returning to the Spotlight

After quietly spending time with her sister Antonia in Nashville on October 1, Kidman stepped back into the public eye just a few days later. On October 4, she attended the amfAR Dallas charity gala to honor Taylor Sheridan — the creative mind behind Yellowstone, Landman, and Lioness, in which Kidman stars.

Sheridan was presented with the Award of Inspiration for his contributions to storytelling and his support of HIV/AIDS research through amfAR. Kidman, radiant and composed, took the stage to present the award, delivering a heartfelt speech that reflected both admiration and shared purpose.

“I think what Taylor recognizes, as we all do, is that we are more alike than we are different,” Kidman said. “We’re better when we look out for one another — and what better way to do that than by supporting innovative research that saves lives?”

The evening marked a touching moment of connection and strength for Kidman, who continues to film Lioness Season 3 under Sheridan’s direction. Photos from the event show the two smiling together, a reminder that even in difficult times, Kidman remains a symbol of resilience, elegance, and compassion.

As for Keith Urban, he returned to the stage on October 2 for his first concert since the news broke. Though he didn’t mention the split, fans noticed his wedding ring was gone — and that he skipped performing “The Fighter,” the song inspired by his marriage to Kidman.

Even as one chapter closes, both stars seem to be moving forward with grace — focusing on their families, their music, and the work that continues to inspire millions.
