Country music icon Reba McEntire and actor Rex Linn have officially taken their relationship to the next level — they’re engaged! The happy news was revealed during a red carpet appearance ahead of Sunday night’s 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards in an exclusive interview with Zuri Hall on Live From E!: 2025 Emmys.
When Hall referred to Rex as Reba’s fiancé, the couple shared a playful and joyous response: “We’re having a blast on Happy’s Place and so glad to be here tonight.” A representative also confirmed the engagement to PEOPLE.
Reba and Rex’s story began long ago, in 1991, on the set of The Gambler. “We instantly bonded over living in Oklahoma and our love for horses and acting,” Reba recalled. “He made me laugh, and we became good buddies.” Though they stayed in touch over the years, romance didn’t spark until they reunited on the set of Young Sheldon, officially beginning their relationship in 2020.
In a 2024 interview, Reba revealed that she would happily say “I do” if Rex proposed. Speaking on her sister Susie’s show, Jesus Calling: Stories of Faith, she shared what makes their relationship so meaningful:
“I’ve waited 66 years for a man to pray with and to share a faith and love of the Lord and to be compassionate and have a compassionate heart. That’s very special.”
This engagement will mark Reba’s third marriage. She was previously married to Charlie Battles from 1976 to 1987, and Narvel Blackstock from 1989 to 2015.
After five years of friendship, love, and shared laughter, fans everywhere are celebrating this new chapter for one of country music’s most beloved stars. 💍❤️
