Carrie Underwood Shares Sweet Tribute to Husband Mike Fisher: “Being His Wife Is My Greatest Honor”

Carrie Underwood may light up stadiums with her voice, but at home, her heart belongs to one man—former NHL star Mike Fisher.

The two met in 2008 through Carrie’s bassist, and though she was hesitant at first—“A hockey guy from another country? Really?”—she agreed to meet him. Sparks flew instantly. By New Year’s Eve, they shared their first kiss, and just over a year later, they were married in July 2010.

Mike, originally from Ontario, Canada, played for the Ottawa Senators and later the Nashville Predators, where he became team captain. He officially retired from the NHL in 2018 and became a U.S. citizen in 2019.

Today, Mike and Carrie live in Tennessee with their two sons, Isaiah and Jacob. Whether he’s cheering her on from the sidelines, raising horses, or being a hands-on dad, Mike has always stayed grounded in his faith—and in his love for Carrie.

He once wrote to her:
“You’ve remained humble in all the success. Thanks for always being the small-town girl from Oklahoma, even though you’re one of the biggest stars.”

Their love is quiet, strong, and refreshingly real—just like them.
